About Us

Liberated Heart was founded following the outbreak of the Iron Swords war to support combat veterans suffering from PTSD using groundbreaking, research-based therapy that combines psychotherapy with MDMA, led by Israel’s most experienced trauma clinicians.

The initiative was co-founded by Ronen Sidi, clinical psychologist and director of psychedelic research at Emek Medical Center, and Limor Regev, a public leader and veteran social entrepreneur.

Thousands of soldiers returned from the Iron Swords war—still officially ongoing—suffering from what we call the “invisible wound”: PTSD. Many remain silent, burdened by unseen pain and distress. Some avoid seeking help out of helplessness, stigma, or despair.

Conventional first-line treatments are often invasive and distressing, pushing many PTSD sufferers to avoid therapy altogether. They may choose to travel, disconnect, or suppress their pain. But untreated trauma tends to resurface—often during life transitions like the birth of a child, relationship breakdowns, or other major stressors.

Daily Life with PTSD

People with PTSD live in constant battle between the present and a traumatic past. Flashbacks, nightmares, and intrusive memories make it feel like they’re stuck in the trauma with no escape.

Common symptoms include:

  • Constant hypervigilance

  • Difficulty sleeping or falling asleep

  • Restlessness, concentration issues

  • Heightened arousal and chronic irritability

These symptoms impact every aspect of life—family, work, social relations, and the ability to sustain a stable and healthy relationship.

Liberated Heart offers an alternative: a pioneering therapy at the global forefront of trauma care.
MDMA-assisted psychotherapy has very low dropout rates, and many combat veterans are willing to participate. This is a cutting-edge, research-backed treatment offering real hope for healing.

We believe that healing the psychological wounds of our soldiers and PTSD sufferers is a vital step not only for individuals and families—but also for entire communities and Israeli society at large.

Our work is made possible through the support of dedicated donors, academic institutions, and philanthropic foundations.

Our treatment program includes personalized three-month cycles in intimate groups of six participants. Some sessions include MDMA administered under strict medical supervision. These sessions include overnight stays at the treatment center. A comprehensive team of top trauma and psychotherapy professionals supports the therapeutic process. Later stages include group sessions.

Our research, developed in parallel and informed by clinical experience, employs cutting-edge neuro, physiological, and psychological monitoring to assess treatment impact.

Using a multidisciplinary approach—including personalized therapeutic scripts, continuous physiological monitoring, and brain imaging—the research aims to define the therapeutic benefits and mechanisms behind MDMA-assisted therapy for PTSD.

Studies show that approximately 70% of participants experience a significant reduction in PTSD symptoms.

Liberated Heart raises funds, bridges between treatment providers, hospitals, and researchers, and advocates for policy change—restoring hope to those suffering in silence.

We are committed to ensuring the responsible, independent advancement of psychedelic therapy—free from pharmaceutical interests. Our sole mission: the healing and wellbeing of soldiers and PTSD survivors.
